STRATEGIC PLAN FOR ORRAN
2005-2010
MISSION: Orran's mission is to:
- Divert children from the streets and engage them in academic, cultural, and extra-curricular activities.
- Fight the concept of beggar children as the principal breadwinners of their families.
- Help families "in crisis".
- Assist the lonely and needy elderly.
- Identify and develop children's interests and talents toward a working career.
- Prevent the spread of destitution and begging among Armenia's children and elderly.
VISION: By 2010, we would like to see an Orran with a main center in Yerevan, and 3 other centers in the regions. The centers are to be run by competent professionals who are dedicated and believe in Orran's mission. Orran is to be a model local NGO working with the government and cooperating with different NGOs, local and international. Orran is to remain to be the leading organization in assisting children on the street. It is to expand its activities to offer an enriching academic and social program. By 2010, Orran should have helped at least 300 children.
GOAL: Eliminate or dramatically decrease the number of children begging on the streets of the capital and in some regions:
STRATEGY: Orran psychologist and other invited professionals conduct training sessions for Orran Board of Directors, staff and children to give them the tools to better incite street children to come to Orran.
Offer better programs to keep the interest of children in Orran. For some children, individual programs should be designed.
GOAL: Open a regional center in Vandzor in 2010.
STRATEGY: With the assistance of JAA and Tree Project staff, conduct a field survey as to where there is the greatest need to have Orran.
Solicit the interests of the local government officials and NGOs in cooperating with Orran. Ask local governments to donate space for Orran.
Export the main center system to the regions.
GOAL: Increase the number of donors and the amount of incoming donations.
STRATEGY:
- Improve the web site
- Periodic newsletters
- Increase media coverage
- Better brochures
- Better and more cooperation with donor groups such as the Armenian Assembly, Tour groups
- Create Friends of Orran in 10 countries
