Mission
Orran's mission is to:
Having demonstrated a successful 5 year operation in Yerevan following the opening of its Yerevan Center in 2003, Orran set a strategic goal to build a new center in Vanadzor within 4 years. The project was launched at the Yerevan Marriott August 2008 Gala when Krikor and Anna Krikorian donated a check for $250,000 to kick-start the $1.1m project. At the same Gala, a further $130,000 was received in donations. In 2009 Orran secured a $300,000 funding from CISP in Rome towards the construction costs. It took an additional 2 years to secure more funding before construction could start in June 2011. The project was completed on time and within budget with the new center opening on 23 October 2012.
The centers are run by competent professionals who are dedicated and believe in Orran's mission. Orran is to be a model local NGO working with the government and cooperating with different NGOs, local and international. Orran is to remain to be the leading organization in assisting children on the street. It is to expand its activities to offer an enriching academic and social program. By the end of 2015, Orran has already helped over 6000 children.
STRATEGY: Ensure that the Orran psychologists and other invited professionals conduct training sessions for Orran Board of Directors, staff and children to give them the tools to better incite street children to come to Orran.
Offer better programs to keep the interest of children in Orran. For some children, individual programs should be designed.
STRATEGY:
GOAL: Have a more competent and dedicated staff.
STRATEGY: Organize retreats for staff. Develop a closer relationship between staff and board members. Bring in diaspora volunteers who can partner up with local staff.
STRATEGY: Find available grants for parent training, domestic violence, vocational training. Speak with other NGOs for possible partnerships.
