Orran Center in Vanadzor - Opened 23 October 2012

WHY WE CHOSE VANADZOR

Vanadzor is the second largest city in Armenia and it is one of the three main cities that suffered during the devastating 1988 earthquake. The dismal situation of Vanadzor is evident in comparing the population figures of the years 2000 and 2003. In 2000, there were 171,000 people living in Vanadzor; by the year 2003 that figure had dropped down dramatically to 84,000. People leave the city because of the high unemployment rate, the poor living conditions and the low prospect of development.

The main beneficiaries of this project are the children of Vanadzor from ages 6 to 18 who come from economically deprived families. Some of the children have resorted to begging to become the bread winners of their families. Some will be forced to go on the streets if we do not help them today. Currently, numerous children in Vanadzor cannot attend school because they don't have the basic necessities such as shoes and clothing. Needy and lonely elderly who have to live on a pension of a month where the minimum food basket is are resorting to the streets as well.

You can help us by funding the operation of this new center of 1,000 m2 on 3 floors by the following means:

  1. Donating any amount of money
  2. Sponsoring a room named after you, your family, or in memory of someone you love in the new center. For more information please contact us at orran@orran.am
  3. Having the building named after you by being a matching donor for 250,000 USD

Orran Krikorian “Matching donor” Center

The Krikorian Charitable Trust donated 250,000 USD at the August 2008 Yerevan Gala to kick-start the construction of the new center in Vanadzor. The Krikorians and the beneficiaries of Orran ask for a single donor to match this generous contribution and share the name on the new center with the Krikorians.
